Dilip Kumar born Muhammad Yusuf Khan born 11 December 1922 in Peshwar, NWFP, British India (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan). He is an Indian film actor, producer, screenwriter and activist who appears in Hindi Cinema. Dilip Kumar was born in a Hindi-speaking Awan Family of 12 children. His Father lala Aghaji, was a landlord and fruit merchant who owned orchards in peshwar and Deolali. He schooled at Barnes School. His brother Nasir Khan, also an actor and his nephew is actor Ayub Khan. Dilip Kumar first married Asma Sahiba and divorced and second married actress Saira Banu.

Dilip Kumar started his acting debut the film Jwar Bhata and followed by this film he done more than 65 movies. Dilip Kumar is known for his films suchas the romantic Andaz (1949), the heartwarming Babul (1950), the impassioned Deedar (1951), the swashbuckling Aan (1952), the dramatic Devdas (1955), the comical Azaad (1955), Naya Daur (1957), Yahudi (1958), Madhumati (1958), Kohinoor (1960), the epic historical Mughal-e-Azam (1960), the social dacoit crime drama Gunga Jamuna (1961), and the comedy Ram Aur Shyam (1967).

Dilip Kumar has received many awards, including of the nice filmfare awards and is the first of the Filmfare Best Actor award he received in year 1954. The critics have acclaimed Dilip Kumar as one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian Cinema. He honoured with Padma Bhushan in 1991, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994, The Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1997 and the Padma Vivhushan in 2015.
